Hello my name is Tina. I'm a 100% disabled veteran living on a fixed disability monthly budget.

I have multiple disabilities that requires me to have a personal aide assist me with my daily basic needs and chores.

Currently I'm in the Direct Healthcare Program through the Veterans Administration. Unfortunately my personal aide had a stroke about 3 weeks ago.

I was unable to find another personal aide before my biopsy on October 31st.

As per doctor requested that I have someone to stay with me for up to 72 after my biopsy on this past Friday.

I have to pay out of my own money for a personal aide to stay with me. $18 per hour X 72 hours = $1296.

The Veterans Administration will reimburse me at some point once the government reopen.

This unexpected cost has put a tremendous strain on my finances.

The Veterans Administration hospital in Hampton issued me a manual wheelchair when I had my first back surgery in 2015.

Since 2015 my health has declined. It's very painful to manual push the wheelchair by myself because I recently had a second back surgery May 6, 2025 (until I find another personal aide which may take 4 to 8 weeks for approval through the Veterans Administration Direct Healthcare Program).

Also multiple disabilities of neuropathy of the spine, COPD, degeneration of disc and joint diseases, fibromyalgia, arthritis and carpal tunnel in both hands and knees, large mass in stomach pelvic area, 2 legions on left adrenal gland, 2 legions on pancreas and left nerve root sheath tumors in my spine area (which was biopsy on October 31st).

These disabilities are very painful and makes it very difficult for me in manual wheelchair without a personal aide.

I use my cane or walker around my house.

But I can only use my wheelchair to be transported to my doctor's appointments because I'm a high fall risk due to loss of lower extremity.

The Veterans Administration hospital has denied my request for automated scooter in the past.

I'm asking for help to purchase me automated scooter and to help me with some past due bills that I need to pay immediately.

I had to repaid my family members and friends who helped me out when I had a pipe burst and water leak earlier this year that caused water damage and my homeowner insurance didn't cover all the damages.

I'm unable to save for a automated scooter and pay some past due bills because of these unexpected issues throughout this past year.
