I'm the person who has made these fundraisers for my loved ones in need. I didn't think I would have to make one for myself... 
 
In all honesty, 2024 has been the worst year we've had to traverse yet...and we lived through the pandemic. The backstory: 
 
Matt got laid off from his over decade-long position at his company completely out of no where in January. We learned the hard way how insane the job market is right now, as he wasn't able to find employment in ANY industry until July. His unemployment ran out in June, so June and July were real rough for us. 
 
Due to our collective mountain of debt, we started our bankruptcy journey last winter, and due to a LOT of peaks and valleys (mostly valleys), we are still in the process. While it was all going on, our car got repossessed the morning Matt was going to orientation for his new job, something we were unaware and not properly educated on the fact that it could happen. Since then, we thankfully have been able to use Matt's mom and dad's car to get to work, however one of us will either Lyft or Uber to or from work depending on our schedules. This all is also worked in to the family's schedule so everyone can properly make their appointments, meetings, etc. Our little village has done their best to help us immensely as well, as for that we are forever grateful. 
 
Which leads us here: We have no idea if we will be able to get our car back, and if we can, what the terms of getting it back will be. There are a lot of unknowns right now surrounding the whole situation, and it is very frustrating and stressful. What we do know, is that we need desperate help. Whether or not we're able to get our car back, that will be an upfront expense in itself, but then we will need to get another car to accommodate our work schedules (something we hadn't had to deal with last year). We need help kickstarting our "savings" towards getting at least one car, whichever car that may be. No amount of food bank trips, acquiring free home goods, and budget cuts to our already tight budgets leave us in a place to get a car even by next year, and that's time we just don't have.
