My name is Tyler D'Arcy and I am a Canadian ultramarathoner. Last year I was welcomed into a family home in Nyahururu, Kenya and treated like a member of the family. Ann, the matriarch is a wonderful mother, Mary the eldest daughter is studying in town, Brian the eldest son is finished public school and navigating his path, Antony the youngest son goes to a boarding school, Emmaculate the youngest daughter is in grade 2, and Peterson the father is often away working to support the family. I was also taken under the wing of a local professional athlete, John Mwangi Muchiri. Mwangi is a top Kenyan distance runner with big dreams, and the best training partner!
We ate together, trained together, went to church and prayed together and learned from each other as they helped me reach my potential as a runner by training with elites at high altitude. Every day the family fed me and helped me navigate safely. Mwangi and I ran together twice a day and traveled together for races.
I am going back in January 2025 for another 3 months of training. The same friends and family will be welcoming me and supporting me again. I would like to return the favour of giving support and present them with funds so that they can chase THEIR dreams!! 100% of funds raised with be given directly to Ann and Peterson, and Mwangi and his family.
