 Mauricio’s six children and pregnant wife have been put in an incredibly difficult situation since Mauricio was detained earlier this month. The close-knit family is missing their confidant and advisor, as well as their sole breadwinner. His wife Maria is looking for support to help keep their children (aged 6 to 17 years old) housed and fed while they fight to bring Mauricio back home.

 Mauricio has three priorities in life – his family, his church, and his work. Before he was detained, the family did everything together: they attended church together; they waited for Mauricio to get home to eat dinner together each night; they spent time at home together talking and receiving advice from Mauricio; etc. From detention, he has tried to call his family often, even if just briefly to check on how everyone is doing, but his absence is impossibly difficult for all involved.

 Mauricio’s work is also very important to him. He recently received his carpentry diploma and worked in framing and construction. He is a hard worker and was very dedicated to his job. In fact, he was on his way to work at 4:30AM when he was stopped, detained, and moved to California by the next day. Despite having legal status in the US, he is now unable to work to provide for his family, and he is forced to be thousands of miles away from his children and pregnant wife.
