Support Venezuelan Forced Migrants in NYC

Tax deductible

Since the height of Venezuela's humanitarian crisis, millions have been forced to flee the nation due to an oppressive political regime that has led to millions going hungry, millions without basic necessities, and no future in the country. Many Venezuelans have fled to neighboring nations in Latin America and outside the region. Over 350,000 Venezuelans have fled to the United States in the hope of freedom and a new future. New York has the third-highest population of Venezuelans in the United States, amassing over 7 percent of Venezuelans residing in the greater New York metropolitan area. Despite having a new life in the United States, Venezuelan migrants continue to need the support of the government and community actors.

Venezuelans and Immigrants Aid, VIA, [501 (c)(3)] is a 100% volunteer-based grassroots community non-profit organization that works to support Venezuelan forced migrants in the New York City area and beyond through educational workshops, personal and emotional support, advocacy, promotion of legal resources, and social and cultural events to build community and share our traditions even from afar.

VIA works in partnership with local organizations, institutions, and volunteer staff to offer programs and activities for Venezuelans of varying immigration status: those with pending asylum applications, those approved for asylum, applicants for Temporary Protected Status (TPS), and those in a legal limbo. Your support helps our community grow and allows us to expand our reach.  VIA relies completely on volunteer support and financial support from community members.

From one of our members, a Venezuelan forced migrant:

"To me, VIA is my family, a little piece of Venezuela in NYC. I see them in the future as an organization with stronger foundations than it already has and with more goals achieved. They have helped me with legal orientation; English classes; emotional support; financial assistance; workshops to know my rights; and as a bridge to connect with other organizations I did not know about."

About Us:

We are a tax-exempt, non-profit grassroots community organization that helps Venezuelan forced immigrants and asylum seekers in New York to adapt and integrate into this country and its culture as quickly and safely as possible. We connect these displaced people with resources in the city that can support them in, for example, learning English, getting food and clothing, and establishing legal immigration status. Our members and volunteers are mostly Venezuelan asylum seekers themselves, hardworking individuals who want to give back to their community and the organizations that support our mission.
