Recently, my friend and I visited a family in the community of Onaville (near Port-au-Prince) where many families affected by the earthquake live. We saw poverty as a tangible state -- it was almost unimaginable.
I (Odines) am used to seeing vulnerable people. I have a lot of experience working with deprived families, but this poverty was new for me. This is the poorest family I have ever meet. Mr. and Mrs. Timme have 8 children and none of them go to school. My friend and I just paid for 2 of the kids to go to school this year. I feel like I have to do something -- and I will of course do something.
I will try to build 1 room (about 80 square feet) where 10 people can sleep, a toilet, and a space for the family to cook when they receive food from good Samaritans.
I need your prayers for God to provide funds to make that happen. I promise that all funds will go to this project. Thank you so much for considering.
