Support the Stretford Community Skate Space

[UPDATE}

For the last year we’ve been fundraising to build a free skatepark in Stretford Mall. We’re disappointed to announce the space is no longer available. We’re currently looking for a new space to make use of the money already raised -  thanks to all of you. If we’re unable to find a space this winter, we would like to use some of the funds to host events aimed at the skateboarding community, such as film screenings, exhibitions and workshops.

If you have any leads for indoor spaces we could create free skate space or have any ideas how we could spend the money to help the wider skate community please get in touch or come to our next meeting.

We are crowdfunding for an opportunity to host a free-to-access skate space in Stretford Mall.

We are Skate Manchester, a non-profit Community Interest Company, founded by skaters for skaters. Our mission is to promote and develop skateboarding in Greater Manchester through collective organising.

In this space, we intend to create a small skatepark and allow skaters of any background or level of ability to skateboard for free.

One of our main challenges skaters face in Manchester is a lack of undercover, free-to-use skateboarding facilities. We hope this new space means every skater can do what they love all year round for free, regardless of whether it’s dry outside.

While the primary use of the space will be as a small skatepark we also intend to use the space for the following:
 - Create a welcoming and safe space for people who are new to skateboarding and to support existing skateboarding communities.
 - Holding open sessions and sessions for different age groups and communities.
 - Hold skateboarding aligned events and workshops - e.g. film screenings, zine making workshops, charity fundraising and training opportunities.
- Provide a space for skating when weather is poor on an ad hoc basis

To find out how the the money raised will be spent, the space's use and any further information please visit our website.
