On its 29th year, Seattle Hempfest is in a struggle for its existence.

For the last 29 years, Seattle Hempfest has been community-powered, providing a platform for change by presenting the leading voices of the cannabis community to the world and defining what a "protestival" can accomplish. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, along with thousands of other public events, Hempfest is in a struggle for its very existence, unable to produce our event in its historic venue. Certainly, these decades of work by thousands of Hempfest volunteers paved the way for Washington State to be one of the first two states to legalize. Now we must turn to our community for support so that Hempfest can continue its mission, and get through this unprecedented year as we transition online for our 2020 flagship event. Also, with your help, we can continue producing regular online educational content after our event, and help people learn the positive impacts of cannabis, what the drug war is, how it is contributing to systemic racism, and how individuals can advocate for change to create a better society.

We are asking for your generous support in the form of a contribution. Hempfest is going into debt and needs to fulfill its financial commitments in order to honor its legacy of integrity and fight on in the quest to finish the job and end federal prohibition. Our organization is currently in appellate court challenging the constitutionality of our state’s advertising restrictions on cannabis businesses, restrictions that have, since they were enacted, cost Hempfest many hundreds of thousands of dollars in revenue over the last few years. We are asking you to give back to this decades-long free community event so we can pay it forward and transition our mission for this new age. There is so much hard work to be done to see cannabis legal for all Americans.

If enough people and businesses chip in Hempfest can fight on in the struggle for racial and gender equity, criminal justice reform, and the quest to end the injustice of prohibition once and for all. Please give what you can. Contributions may be tax-deductible for some donors. Contact us for more details.
