The horses are asking for your help.
Golden Gate Equestrian has always taken pride in being a safe environment while providing a positive outlet for so many families and children. Our farm is located just outside of Hamilton, Ontario and has been a proud supporter of our community since 2008.
The COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lock down has shaken the core of our business with all lessons being canceled and children and families not being able to participate.
The most vulnerable victims are the lesson horses, many who are dependent on lesson fees to cover costs associated with caring for them. With that income stripped away, the hard working school horses are now at a loss. Being such an essential part of learning and developing riders, the school horses are now at jeopardy. These horses are the life line for not just the up and coming riders, but also instilling confidence, trust and life skills for many in our community.
Golden Gate Equestrian has had the privilege of working with Children's Aid & Catholic Children Aid Societies over the years, and hope to continue doing so. We know how important the horses are to so many in our community at all different levels and that is why the farm has always "paid it forward" with theses and many other organizations.
Thankfully the horses are unaware of the problems our community is facing at this time, but with that said the upkeep of health/feed/housing/care remains the upmost of importance.
The feed, labor, and costs of keeping these amazing horses has not changed but the income that provides these has halted. The staff at the barn have been amazing and have put the health and welfare of these horses first and foremost as always, and we are forever grateful for that.
There is an amazing community of people who love and cherish these horses, and at this time we are humbled by asking for help. We are working as hard as can be to keep things normal, but remain concerned with the economic reality behind it.
We would appreciate any donation amounts to help. If you are unable to donate, please help us spread this cause by sharing this campaign and the links below, as we will be posting videos, pictures and live streams from our social media to feature these magnificent animals.
FACTS : We currently care and house 32 horses at our farm. The average monthly cost per horse with the cost saving measures we have implemented in these times, ranges between 450 - 650 monthly excluding operational costs such as insurance and utilities etc.
Your donations directly go to the continued care and welfare of these horses.
