Support the Restoration of The Beach Theatre

The Beach Theatre established its legacy with the grand opening on January 15, 1940.

Becoming the first movie theater in Pinellas County to be equipped with sound and air conditioning, the theater became a beloved landmark on St. Pete Beach. It presented the best in independent and international cinema, and created lasting memories for generations of local artists who showcased their work on our stage and our screen.

The building closed in 2012, and the time has come to open its doors again.

Our team’s mission is simple. Chris Scott purchased the theater and formed The Beach Theatre Community Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)(3) film arts non-profit organization, in order to “restore, remodel, and maintain the historic theater in a manner consistent with its original design and historical aesthetic.” Shana Nichols and Joey Hager, respectively our Executive Director and Director of Operations & Programming, are excited to welcome the community back to the movies in a safe and engaging environment.

An extensive restoration must be undertaken, which will include repairs to the main auditorium, an expansion of the concession and lobby areas, as well as technical upgrades to provide stellar presentations for both films and live events. More information can be found on our website .

We are confident that, with your help, we can turn the Beach Theatre into a beautiful, sophisticated, and enduring cinematic landmark, recognized not only in our area but far beyond, as a premiere showcase of talent from around the world—and from our own backyard.
