How NewMakeIt is involved in the fight against COVID-19:
NewMakeIt is a digital innovation hub, makerspace and interactive training facility located in Newmarket, Ontario. We have retooled our lasers, 3D printers and CNC router to produce PPE components. With the generous donation of PET plastic from the Newmarket Public Library, and an army of volunteers, we are on track to produce 20,000 face shields.
Why we need the donation: In order to produce a large volume of PPE quickly, our machines are working around the clock. Heavy use can lead to problems if the machines aren’t maintained properly. In the last three weeks, specialized equipment, tooling and machine consumables are adding up. To keep going, we will need funds to continue operations. Your donation will provide targeted maintenance activities and special equipment replacement to keep them running efficiently and ensure they are not taken offline for unexpected repairs.
Our promise: No matter the amount your able to donate, we would ensure that all of it goes towards our work to fight COVID-19. We will put all donations into equipment replacement parts and maintenance and any remaining funding will be invested in improving our process. Any PPE we make will not be sold, it will be donated to those in need.
