<div>This is the Kellogg Family: Amanda, James, and their almost six-year-old son, Lukas.

<div>On Saturday, June 22, a fire started and burned their warehouse to the ground: a catastrophic loss. Inside the warehouse were the contents of both James’ and Amanda’s small businesses. James and his father own a magic shop in San Diego and the warehouse stored all their inventory.

<div>James and Amanda’s son, Lukas, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when he was 13 months old. When he was two Lukas was also diagnosed with autism. Amanda and James created an Etsy sticker shop, “Lukas’ Part Time Pancreas” to create fun adhesive stickers for people with Type 1 to decorate their diabetes devices: CGMs, pumps and others. The industrial machinery used to create these stickers (printer, cutter and adhesive rolls) were all inside the warehouse as well. The sticker shop has provided the family with additional income over the last few years. It was all destroyed last night.

<div>Amanda and James are now facing the terrifying reality of both of their businesses and only livelihood being completely lost in the fire. For the foreseeable future, they do not have income.

<div>I (Emily) met Amanda online in 2019 in a diabetes support Facebook group for babies with Type 1. I created this fundraiser for the Kellogg family to help with their bills, groceries, gas and medical expenses (monthly copays for Lukas’ insulin, CGM and insulin pumps). It is it extremely hard to have a child with unique medical needs— it’s even harder and more terrifying when both of your income sources have been destroyed. Let’s rally around the Kellogg family and help alleviate some of their financial stress in the days, weeks and months ahead as they figure out their next steps.
