Support the Judds

On Wednesday August 1st, Sandra woke to find Dave unconscious.  That is a day that will dramatically change their lives.  A tumour was removed from his brain the night of August 1.  Diagnosis was inconclusive, meaning targeted treatment was not possible and it was unclear what the future would look like.  While Dave eventually regained consciousness, the tumour resulted in paralysis of his right  side and also left him unable to communicate.  He did however manage to use his left side a bit and his eyes would light up when you would enter the room.

Things seemed to be progressing relatively well until the evening of Saturday September 8.  Dave took a turn for the worse.  He was transferred back to the ICU for the greater level of care he needs.  A CT scan revealed 2 tumours that are quite large, indicating that the tumours are growing quickly.  At this point, there was little that could be done.  They focused on pain management and making sure Dave was comfortable.

Dave was transferred to Carpenter House Hospice on September 13 where he and the family could be more comfortable for his remaining days.

On Sunday, October 7 Dave passed away peacefully, leaving behind his wife Sandra and sons Andrew and Thomas, age 9 and 7.

This has come faster than Sandra and the family expected.  While Sandra is able to keep up regular expenses, there are new expenses on the horizon and she will be able to save very little.  She will need to look for alternative care for the boys before and after school, she will need to ensure she can fund the type of support the family will need post this trauma, and she will need to ensure there is enough money for the boys' future as well.

Many have offered financial support already, and we are choosing this avenue as a place for people who wish to donate financially instead of helping Sandra in other ways.

The Judds are forever grateful for all of the help that has already been offered and continue to be touched by the warm support they feel.
