There is an aggressive uptick in platforms managed by Black women who are touting the idea of hypergamy as a resolution for Black women's challenges in the arena of dating and marriage. They believe our ideals of feminine expression are actually skewed and rooted in masculinity to compensate for our male counterpart's inadequacies.
One Scribe Media is going to delve into the premise of Black women not having enough options for dating and the mindset of romantic scarcity. We have the same pressures as other races of women to "have it all", but often times at the expense of our personal fulfillment when it comes to love.
The Director Lande Yoosuf is going to speak through her perspectives as a millennial, career-minded Black women trying to identify the best romantic path for Black women who desire marriage with a masculine counterpart.
Lande will interview women that own these platforms in addition to activists, historians, sociologists and every day Black folks.
Here are some questions Lande will be exploring in this piece:
- WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS VS. DISADVANTAGES OF HYPERGAMY?
- ARE WE REALLY HAPPY BEING "STRONG, INDEPENDENT" WOMEN?
- ARE BLACK WOMEN SCREWING THEMSELVES WITH ADHERING TO EGALITARIANISM IN OUR ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIPS?
- DO GENDER ROLES IN RELATIONSHIPS MATTER?
And much more. Please help this very important, timely piece to be made. It will support our production costs so that we can interview people outside of our headquarters in New York City, especially with all of the restrictions with Covid-19. Several of our desired talent resides in California, Atlanta, Washington D.C., London, etc. We can hire local crew to shoot the film while we piece it together locally.
One Scribe Media will also be able to properly compensate our team members that have graciously worked on this project for low/no pay. That would include producers, production assistants, our music supervisor, editor and much more.
We also really need the money to promote and publicize the film.
