The Federation of Teachers of Puerto Rico (FMPR) is working with allies to set up a collection center to collect and distribute needed supplies to those most affected by the recent earthquakes that have rocked Puerto Rico and devastated many parts of the south and south west of the island. Money donated here will be used to buy the much needed items listed below, which will be directly distributed to those who need it.

La Federación de Maestros de Puerto Rico (FMPR) está cooperando con sus aliadxs para desarrollar un centro de distribución para recoger y distribuir suministros a lxs más afectadxs por los temblores que han impactado a Puerto Rico y han devastado el sur y suroeste de la isla. El dinero donado aquí se usará para comprar los siguientes artículos necesarios que se distribuirán directamente a quienes lo necesiten.

The Federación de Maestros de Puerto Rico (FMPR) needs international solidarity and financial support!
The FMPR is a target of repression. At the beginning of October of 2019, theFMPR’s building was firebombed and there was more than $100,000 of damage. The target of the terrorist attack, the Central General de Trabajadores (CGT), who the FMPR rents the space to led a victorious strike the month before.
The FMPR defends public education. For years the FMPR has fought against school closures, for smaller class sizes, against overcrowding, for funding for special education programs, against the charter school take over, and for just wages and a decent retirement for educators in Puerto Rico.
The FMRP fights austerity. In the next two months the FMPR is helping to lead the struggle against the Fiscal Control Board plan for austerity in Puerto Rico. If passed, this plan will eviscerate public sector employee pensions and rights in Puerto Rico.
The FMPR builds rank-and-file power. The FMPR organizes to build strong organization at the school level. They organize workshops, build solidarity, mobilize these forces nationally, and are training a new generation of educators to stand up for the future of Puerto Rico.
The FMPR doesn’t back down. The Asociación de Maestros de Puerto Rico (AMPR), the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) affiliate in PR is a boss’s union which is negotiating away educator rights. The FMPR, on the other hand rejects privatization and organizes to leverage the power of the rank and file over the power of the privatizers and colonial vultures in Puerto Rico.

¡La Federación de Maestros de Puerto Rico (FMPR) necesita solidaridad internacional y apoyo financiero!
La FMPR es un blanco de represión. A principios de octubre de 2019, el edificio que es propiedad de la FMPR fue incendiado y hubo más de $100,000 de daños. El objetivo del ataque terrorista, la Central General de Trabajadores (CGT), organización hermana y a quien la FMPR alquila el espacio, lideró un ataque victorioso el mes anterior durante la huelga de los trabajadores de Cadillac Uniforms.
La FMPR defiende la educación pública. Durante años, la FMPR ha luchado contra el cierre de escuelas, por clases de menor tamaño, contra el hacinamiento de estudiantes, por la financiación de programas de educación especial, contra la toma de control de las escuelas charter, por salarios justos y una jubilación decente para los educadores en Puerto Rico.
La FMRP combate la austeridad. En los próximos dos meses, la FMPR está ayudando, junto a otras organizaciones, a liderar la lucha contra el plan de austeridad de la Junta de Control Fiscal en Puerto Rico. Si se aprueba, este plan eliminará las pensiones y los derechos de los empleados del sector público en Puerto Rico.
La FMPR construye poder en las masas y en el pueblo, en la comunidad magisterial. La FMPR se organiza para construir una organización sólida a nivel escolar. Organizan talleres, construyen solidaridad, movilizan estas fuerzas a nivel nacional y están capacitando a una nueva generación de educadores para defender el futuro de Puerto Rico.
La FMPR no retrocede. La Asociación de Maestros de Puerto Rico (AMPR), afiliada de la Federación Estadounidense de Maestros (AFT) en PR, es un sindicato jefe que está negociando los derechos de los educadores a sus espaldas. La FMPR, por otro lado, rechaza la privatización y se organiza para aprovechar el poder del pueblo, de la comunidad magisterial, sobre el poder de los privatizadores y los buitres coloniales en Puerto Rico.
