Support the Elsenbroek Family

So where to start.   If you know the Elsenbroek family, Scott, Maria, Nikki and Eddy – Oh and mama too (grandma Laura Johnston), then none of this will be too shocking.  For those who do not, then let me take you on a brief journey of a family that needs your help.  The most recent news of Scott’s impending leg amputation came as a shock to all who know him.  Scott over the past year has been battling a serious MRSA staph infection as a result of his botched knee replacement surgery, which he never should have had in the first place – as confirmed by his current Doctor out of NW Memorial Hospital.  When this new Doctor examined Scott - per Maria (Scott’s wife as she narrated) was so aggravated by the entire situation and what had transpired that he had to gather himself, then stated how angry he was at how they left him without any resolution or further help.  The new Doctor said that, due to his weight, Scott should have never had knee replacement surgery.  Additionally, once Scott had contracted the MRSA infection, the knee replacement hardware should have been completely removed.  Unfortunately, the doctors involved (who will remain nameless) did the surgery back in 2016, left in the hardware and only replaced the plastic prosthetic piece.  They only attempted to clean the metal that was left on the right leg (metal often still have traces of MRSA particles – which it did).  To no surprise while the doctor from NW Memorial was performing the surgery, he found the MRSA infection had reappeared and had gained strength, starting to eat a whole in his leg tissue.  This caused Scott’s condition to worsen.   As of August, 2017, Scott and his family are now attempting to cope with the reality that if he does not amputate his leg, he may never fully rid himself of the MRSA infection, which could also take his life.   Scott is currently confined to a hospital bed in their home, and is missing out on some of the most important events in his children’s lives. He not only missed his daughter Nicole’s graduation in year 2016 but then recently also missed his son Edward’s graduation. Both times he was only able to see the event through a video in the cell phone.

If things have not been difficult enough, recently Nikki, who has Pulminary Hypertension (PH), had to undergo surgery to remove part of her skull that was putting pressure on her brain.  Nikki was getting headaches and the doctors determined that she had a condition called Chiari Malformation, which is a rare condition that causes the skull and upper spine vertebrae to compress against the lower back part of the brain stem—causing lots of headaches, severe pressure and dizziness.

To make matters even harder for the family, Eddy was also diagnosed with a hip issue—Perthes Disease-deformity of his left hip-that has been causing him pain in just every day walking.  The family was told he needed surgery to correct the issue, unfortunately due to the mounting bills Eddy’s surgery will have to wait.

With all this going on, the bills are piling up.
