As confirmed by multiple media outlets and government officials, tens of thousands have been displaced and several killed in Western Oromia, Ethiopia. The whereabouts of many family members (children, pregnant women, elders and disabled) who were unable to escape is still unknown. The number of victims is rising quickly, and those who escaped need immediate humanitarian assistance at temporary sites.
HIRPHA (Humanitarian Initiative to Relieve the Plight in the Horn of Africa) International is an independent, non-profit organization whose effort is solely to provide humanitarian assistance to victims of natural and man-made disasters in the Region by collecting donations from its supporters. Over 17,350 family members in Hararge, Borana, and Bale zones of Oromia, of the more than 1 million people recently displaced around the Eastern, Southeastern and Southern borders of Oromia Region of Ethiopian due to man-made tragedy, were provided non-food items through HIRPHA. Food and nutrition assistance were also provided to save children and pregnant women in Bale Zone.
The tens of thousands being displaced at present in Western Oromia need food, clothing and shelter. HIRPHA plans to provide assistance to these victims as soon as possible and we need your help!
