The Bristol has been a staple of the Bucktown neighborhood for over a decade. The building stands proudly under the highway and the backlit banner welcomes all who pass in for an intimate experience provided by dedicated staff members who craft food and drinks with passion and deliver service with smiles and professionalism. Above anything else, our goal has always been hospitality and to create a loving environment in the neighborhood by offering delicious meals.
Unfortunately, with the ongoing outbreak of Covid-19 (coronavirus) hitting the US, protective measures had to be taken to flatten the curve of infection. Because of that, many restaurants, bars, and other service facilities have been put to a halt during this time with exception to dine-in and pick-up. This has led to a temporary furlough of all of our hardworking employees.
For many of us who work at The Bristol, this job is our primary/only source of income. We pride ourselves on being a restaurant full of individuals passionate about the industry and seek working in restaurants as a life-long career. What this means during a crisis that directly affects our industry is that many of our employees don't have a back-up plan, "work from home" option, or a secondary job to fall back on (at least not immediately so.) For much of the rest of our staff, they are students studying to further themselves in another career focus. Whichever path it is, our work family is faced with bills to pay, children to support, and student loans to eventually pay off. Due to the halt of our operations, many of our workers are facing financial instability, and especially hard times if the length of quarantine gets extended. With your support we can guarantee that every penny donated will go towards these employees so they can afford a meal on the table, rent and utilities that will eventually be due, any day-to-day supplies necessary to maintain comfort, and continue to raise their children and support their families.
If you've ever been to The Bristol and have seen how dedicated our staff is to giving great experiences please consider donating what you can in order to get us through this time. Whether it's that delicious Amish Chicken that continues to fight for the throne of "Best Chicken Dish in Chicago" or if it was that Basque Cake on a special occasion sent with our regards at the end of your meal. For many it's a lovely conversations with our bar staff catching up on life and the city. There's so much to love about the intimate connection of a restaurant and more so the feelings of community that The Bristol continues to offer.
