Black Sheeps
I recently began a new chapter in my career as a Veteran Peer Support Specialist. This work is incredibly meaningful to me, as I have the opportunity to walk alongside fellow veterans who are facing difficult transitions. One particular group that I’m focused on right now is a group of recently homeless veterans who are in the HUD-VASH program, a special initiative designed to help veterans secure permanent housing and regain stability.
With Thanksgiving approaching, I’m reaching out to ask for your support in making this holiday memorable for these veterans. Many of them are just beginning to rebuild their lives and have little to no resources for a Thanksgiving meal. I’m organizing a Thanksgiving dinner to bring warmth, companionship, and a sense of community to them—a small gesture to remind them they are not alone and that their sacrifices are honored.
If you’re able to contribute, your donation will go directly towards providing a hearty Thanksgiving dinner, along with a few additional essentials to help them on their path. Every little bit helps, whether it’s enough for a warm meal or to provide some comfort items they can use as they transition.
Thank you for considering this. I know firsthand the generosity that exists within our community of veterans, and I am grateful to be part of it. Together, we can bring a little hope and a lot of heart to those who need it most this Thanksgiving.
