Support Tessa Pollack's Eagle Scout Project
Hello everyone,
My name is Tessa Pollack. I’m a rising senior at Frederick High School. I have completed a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) program in my junior year. I have been in Troop 3017 since 2019 and have enjoyed every minute of it. I have over 90 camping nights and more to come! BSA has taught me so many essential skills in life, from fitness to cooking and anything in between. I have spent a summer staffing at a BSA sleep-away summer camp as a lifeguard. I’m now approaching 18 and would like to reach the Eagle rank (highest rank in scouting). I have been given the opportunity to make 3 foot bridges at Boulder Crest VA.
Boulder Crest (BCR) is an excellent place that specializes in Post-traumatic Growth for combat veterans and first responders. My father has gone through the program and loved it so much he started bringing us for family events. I have been to BCR a few times these past years. I have done the teen program, stayed at the cabins for Thanksgiving with family, and have done other activities with BCR. BCR has an amazing property to be outside to help with the programs but also for family weekends.
I will be making three bridges, each 8ft by 2ft. These foot bridges will be a simple arch to get from bank to bank of the small creek. I will be putting down gravel pads in the ground then wood over that to be the base. The idea of these bridges is so kids and adults can walk along the path and then hop over to the other side as well as sit with their feet hanging over into the creek.
