On April 8, 2025 my family's world was turned upside down. My name is Jessica and I'm writing on behalf of myself, my husband Terrelle and our son. At the beginning of April my husband had a seizure and was taken to the hospital. During the scans, a very large tumor was found to be growing on his brain. Thankfully it was non-cancerous, however it has had a financial impact on our family.

While we are beyond grateful that the tumor was operable, the road to recovery has been and will be a long one. Following the three surgeries that Terrelle went through while trying to remove the tumor and keep him stable, he was on a breathing machine and feeding tubes for several weeks. We spent a little over a month in the ICU, and then went to an inpatient rehabilitation center for 2 weeks.

Although we have insurance, this financial strain has been difficult as Terrelle will be out of work for at least 6 months, possibly longer. I work part time, but he is the primary provider for our family and we worry about finances while we balance paying our monthly bills in addition to the medical costs associated with his recovery.

My husband is the love of my life, my best friend, and my soul mate. We started dating when we were 17 (that's 21 years, but who's counting) and recently celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary (although it was in the hospital, it was the best one yet). Terrelle is the type of person that will befriend anyone. As long as you're a good person, he doesn't care who you are. He's a go with the flow type of guy and rarely complains. He's always willing to help people in need, even if it's a sacrifice to himself or at risk of injury. He's the perfect balance in our family. He's a great husband, but more importantly an amazing dad to our son.

We are a strong family and have an unbreakable bond which has helped us navigate this incredibly emotional time. Although we whole heartedly appreciate the support we have received from our families, we are now turning to our community to help us alleviate the financial stress we are/will be experiencing.
