<div>On Tuesday, May 27th, our brother Teddy was admitted to the emergency room, feeling fatigued, pale, and unable to shake a recent cold. Just a few hours and a brief scan later, it was clear that he had numerous masses on his liver and abdomen, requiring further testing. In the next 48 hours, we learned that the masses on his liver and lung were metastatic cancer.

<div>He immediately underwent surgery to place a port. In the meantime, Teddy has been managing pain, fatigue, and discomfort at Hackensack Meridian Ocean University Hospital in Brick, New Jersey. He's received multiple blood transfusions, supplemental oxygen, and has undergone a number of procedures, all with his parents at his side and visits from friends and family.

<div>On Tuesday, June 3, just a week after his initial diagnosis and while we were awaiting his pathology results, Teddy's condition took a turn for the worse. The masses on his liver began bleeding. He was intubated to give his body, and especially his lungs, a chance to recover while the doctors attempted to resolve a buildup of fluid around his lungs and resolve the bleeding in his liver.

<div>At the time of writing, Teddy is still intubated and is now also on dialysis. We are waiting and hoping to see if the surgical interventions to his liver were successful, but we still have a difficult road ahead of us. Teddy has been officially diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive form of cancer, and will be beginning an intensive regimen of chemotherapy immediately. We are hoping to transfer his care to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center as soon as possible. Even with the difficulties of the past week, Teddy has been endlessly strong, and we have hope that he will continue to fight in the days ahead.

<div>Prior to his diagnosis, Teddy was a full-time cadet in the Ocean County Police Academy with the hopes of working for a local department. Teddy has been working tirelessly to better himself physically and intellectually to prepare for the responsibilities that come with working in law enforcement. Throughout his training, Teddy has been at the top of his class, and even ran a sub 6-minute mile just one week before his hospitalization. We are all devastated that his career and passion for this work will need to be put on hold and resumed when he is in better health.

<div>Anyone who knows Teddy knows not only how hard he works, but also how little he complains. He has spent countless years as a teammate, leader, brother, and friend to those around him with no hesitation to be there for those who need him. We also know that he is extremely selfless and reluctant to ask for help, even when he is struggling.

<div>We are setting up this page to help ease the stress associated with personal expenses and medical expenses during his treatment process. Because he is involved in such invasive treatment, Teddy will need to focus on rest and healing and will not be able to work at this time. By donating to this fund, you would be helping to support some of Teddy's incurred living expenses and medical expenses that arise during the process.
