Support Tasha's Kiva Fellowship

This summer, I will embark on a new adventure as a Kiva Fellow. Kiva is an international nonprofit that is working to connect people through lending to alleviate poverty. Kiva gives small loans to entrepreneurs to help them start and grow their business. To date, Kiva has reached over 2.9 billion borrowers in over 85 countries.
Kiva’s model allows people like you and I to directly support individuals in developing countries who have typically been excluded from the formal financial system. This support is not in the form of a donation, but a loan, which allows one to invest and partner with entrepreneurs to economically empower themselves and lift them out of poverty.
Kiva Fellows are brought on to further Kiva’s mission across the globe. The Fellows are Kiva's eyes and ears on the ground and work directly with microfinance institutions (MFIs) and other field partners to facilitate loans, ensure processes are in place, and visit borrowers in person. I will be working with the organization ADICLA , in Solola, Guatemala, EDESA in San Jose, Costa Rica and FUDECOSUR in San Isidro de El General, Costa Rica.
The Kiva Fellowship is a 6 month, unpaid, volunteer position. Which is why I’m asking for your support today! As an ambassador of Kiva I will be working with our field partners to expand Kiva’s impact and gain exposure to how microfinance works in practice. Your support will go directly toward housing, food and other basic living expenses while I’m abroad.
As someone who has been working in the international development sector for the past 3 years, I am thrilled at the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and make a tangible difference in lives of underserved populations in Central America.
I’ll leave you with a quote which I believe brilliantly sums up the ethos of Kiva:
