<div>Tammy Jo was recently diagnosed with a rare Stage 3 anal cancer.

<div>While doctors say this cancer is treatable, the road ahead is long, painful, and exhausting. A diagnosis like this doesn’t just attack the body—it shakes the heart, the spirit, and the wallet. Tammy Jo will soon begin the fight of her life with chemotherapy and radiation given at the same time, followed by months of painful healing and recovery.

<div>Tammy Jo and her wife Nikole have already been hit with out-of-pocket copays, scans, medications, and urgent medical bills. Now they face the overwhelming reality that Tammy Jo will not be able to work during treatment. On top of that, Nikole will be both her caregiver and the one trying to keep the household afloat—while working reduced hours. The stress on both of them is enormous.

<div>For months, Tammy Jo knew something wasn’t right. She felt her energy slipping away and her body signaling distress. On July 9, 2025, her doctor first suspected cancer. By July 18, her world turned upside down with the official diagnosis. Since then, her life has been a whirlwind of labs, exams, MRIs, consultations, chemo school, and nonstop appointments. She has endured a painful bacterial infection and an inflammatory response both in her stomach. On July 28, she underwent surgery to remove kidney stones—yet another painful hurdle in this unfolding journey.

<div>Tammy Jo is an independent contractor, a creative force in the comedy community. She teaches, performs, produces shows, and books talent. But cancer has brought all of that to a halt. With treatment looming, she has had to cancel classes and decline gigs, cutting off her main sources of income. The reality is that she will not be able to work while undergoing simultaneous chemo and radiation, nor in the months of recovery that follow.
