As many of you know, our family is going through an extremely difficult and heart breaking time right now. March 31st, my niece Samantha, and her two daughters Avery and Livi were in a devastating car accident. Samantha sustained serious injuries, but thankfully will be ok, with time. We are happy to say that Livi did not sustain any major injuries. Sadly, Avery suffered severe injuries, as her neck was broken in the accident and she had to have surgery.
She is at Tufts hospital and, although we are praying for a miracle, her current prognosis is not good. She just had a trach put in to help her breathe easier, due to a collapsed lung. They are not sure about movement in one of her arms and the doctors are telling my sister Sandy and her husband Raymond (Avery's Nana& Papa), that Avery may never walk again, which is unfathomable since she is only seven years old.
As you can imagine, something this serious is life changing and there is so much to consider in caring for Avery when she returns home. At the very least, they will definitely have to find a new place to live as their current residence is not handicap accessible. There is a possibility they may require outside help, cost to travel to therapy, most likely a new vehicle to accommodate Avery's needs and many other financial obligations that come along with caring for a child with special needs.
We appreciate all your love, prayers, thoughts, texts, messages and kind thoughts. We are asking if at all possible, to donate towards this cause for Super Girl Avery. No amount is too small and I think I can speak on behalf of our family to say, thank you for everything. ❤
