This is Stephen’s wife Angela. As many of you are aware my husband is living with congestive heart failure. In recent months he has been experiencing a decline in his heart’s performance. His feet swell because his heart can’t pump enough force to circulate blood flow properly. He has already undergone numerous surgeries and has a defibrillator inside of him with probes attached to his heart. It keeps his heart beating at an appropriate rhythm and communicates his status directly to the cardiology team at the VA through a wireless monitor. We’ve gone through some close calls and he’s always managed to get back on his feet. He has been so stressed recently it’s affecting his health dramatically. We need some help.

I was laid off from my job a few months ago as the company I worked for decreased its workforce. Texas paid my unemployment benefits and were set to last until August 2025. I was informed 4 weeks ago that the remaining funds would need to be claimed through Missouri, our current state of residence. Missouri agreed that the funds were there but not available to process claims until August 2025 when the benefit year ends. We’ve been just barely getting by with the Texas unemployment and supplementing with our savings. I spent too much time trying to land a remote position so I could be home to take care of him. We had everything planned out. The job prospects in my industry are finally picking up. But we are not going to make it with the resources we have remaining, the well has run dry. We need some help to get by until I can get some paychecks coming in again. We would not ask for help if we had any alternative. We are really in a tight spot.
