THE GOOD

This...
is the Jake and Stephanie Mulford family.  Lovingly referred to as the "MulfHerd".

Jake (Dad) is the humor: he keeps everyone rolling.  If you ever find yourself in need of a good potty joke - he's your man.

Maisey (Kid #1) is the heart: she's sensitive and thoughtful.  This one loves everything, and man, does she love hard.

Owen (Kid #2) is the fun: he's always up for a good time.  Follow the sound of a hearty laugh and there you'll find Owen.

And Steph (Mom), well, she's the glue: she keeps her family going. She helps her family stay grounded yet driven.  She's beautiful inside and out.  She's kindhearted and generous.  The greatest friend and listener.  She's loyal, forgiving, brainy and creative.  Basically, she's the whole package.

The MulfHerd!  Amazing, aren't they?

THE BAD

Do you know what's not so amazing?  Cancer.

Just reading the word gives me the heebie-jeebies.  Seriously, Cancer, you're the worst.

On August 28th 2018, Stephanie (the glue), was diagnosed with it.  Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma (ERMS), to be exact.  It is extremely rare (like, .04% rare) and its the kind of news that can just ruin your whole day (week... month... year).

THE UGLY

The MulfHerd are still learning what this means for them.

Some things we do know:

Chemotherapy is a must (boo hair loss - yay crazy wigs to shock your neighbors)
Huntsman Cancer Center is a Godsend (and just down the road, no less)
Second opinions are needed (in New York City, just to be certain)
The loss of a baby (Stephanie found out she was expecting just a few weeks before her diagnosis and was asked to terminate her pregnancy in order to preserve her own life)
Possibly a hysterectomy (at 29 years young)

(The most recent updates can be found on Stephanie's cancer blog, here): https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/stephscancerupdates

Again, Cancer, you stink.

WHAT CAN I DO?

I know what you're thinking, I've thought it too, "I LOVE this family.  I would DO ANYTHING for them.  How can I help?"

To start: Prayers.  Fasting.  Good Vibes.  We have spent countless hours on our knees and have felt of God's strength and peace.  We could use even more of that.

If you want to do a little extra, you've come to the right place.

Not only is cancer painful, invasive and all around RUDE - its also expensive.  Even with the blessing of insurance, cancer can be a cash cow.

Any small donation makes a big difference.  You can donate here with a card, or at AmericaFirst Credit Union in the near future (an account will be forthcoming-stay tuned for updates!)

All funds go directly to Jake and Steph to help with medical bills, medications, travel, childcare, maybe even the occasional "I have to go get more Chemo tomorrow, so I'm going to down a pint of ice-cream tonight before I'm too nauseated to even look at food" snack.
