<div>Life changed forever the morning of June 22, 2026, for Alejandro and his family. While walking the 50 feet from his front door to his truck, ICE agents approached Alejandro from both directions of the street. He was able to quickly call his wife, Carmen, who stepped out onto the sidewalk to take his phone and wallet. He was then placed in an ICE vehicle and taken to detention. He has been moved multiple times and is now in a facility in California, across the entire continental U.S. from his wife and child. A lawyer has been retained, but the road ahead is long. Alejandro’s teenage daughter, Stefany, describes him as a “good father” and a “good worker” — she and her mother are devastated by this separation.

<div>Compounding the loss of Alejandro is Stefany’s medical needs. Stefany was born with Morquio Syndrome Type A, a rare metabolic bone disorder. She needs weekly infusions, occupational therapy, and other medical treatments. Her father was her champion: he took her to appointments and helped her navigate life with this complex condition, including being the main contact for her school. On top of this, Alejandro worked six days a week, providing for his family. He is also missed by Max, the family’s beloved Husky. It was Dad who did the dog walking. Quite simply, the whole world has been turned upside down for this family.

<div>La vida cambió para siempre la mañana del 22 de junio de 2026 para Alejandro y su familia. Mientras recorría los 50 pies que separaban la puerta de su casa de su camioneta, unos agentes del ICE se le acercaron desde ambos lados de la calle. Consiguió llamar rápidamente a su mujer, Carmen, que salió a la acera para recoger su teléfono y su cartera. A continuación, lo subieron a un vehículo del ICE y lo llevaron a un centro de detención. Ha sido trasladado varias veces y ahora se encuentra en un centro de California, al otro lado de todo el territorio continental de EE. UU., lejos de su esposa y su hija. Se ha contratado a un abogado, pero su camino por delante es largo.
