"When one moves away from nature their heart becomes hard"- Lakota Proverb

Four generations of the Feather Necklace Tiospaye Lakota family are staying at the Sacred Stone camp, protecting the water and land.  This fight is one in a long line of fights that the Feather Necklace Family has supported. Amongst the family that are there include elders who are veterans of  both Alcatraz and Wounded Knee, and founders of AIM including Madonna  Thunder Hawk in the video above.

These Elders have been fierce leaders in the red power movement. Their children,  'AIMster kids'  who grew up in the AIM movement who are now becoming 'baby elders' as well as the younger generation whom are stepping into their leadership, and lastly the  children who are witness to one of the most beautiful acts of resistance in their community.

From teaching the children at the camp to offering historical accounts of past forms of resistance to supporting the kitchen, the Feather Necklace Clan are playing an important role at Standing Rock.  As Winter approaches, we are trying to ensure that the four generations including those in their 70's can remain there, teaching and protecting.

Those of us who can't be there but are praying and sending support would like to raise enough money to buy a winterized yurt.

The basic 24 yurt is about $8,000. We'd like to be able to set up rain catchment, solar panels, and a wood stove. That's an additional $5,000. If you can pitch in, please donate here.

Thank you for your support of our relatives. If you donate, and visit the camp, let us know. We'll connect you to our relatives there.
