Fantastic ultra-premium bottles to be won, with 15% of donations going to Women’s Aid .
At Speakeasy Entertainment (operating iconic London bars and music venues Nightjar and Oriole) we've always felt as much like a family as much as a professional team. We've always looked out for one another from top to bottom and supported one another through difficult times like these.
When we were forced to close our doors in March and plan for an extended period with zero income, our first concern was for our employees . Although the Job Retention Scheme has allowed us to pay our staff a portion of what they would otherwise have earned, the deliberate exclusion of income from tronc, service charge and tips from the scheme has been a game changer. It has reduced the amount we are able to pay our staff by about £25,000 per month and some employees are now receiving only 50% of their normal income. In a city like London with high costs of living this has left some on the brink of serious financial hardship.
As a result, we are appealing to anyone who knows and loves what we do to chip in anything they can afford to keep our hardship fund running. Funds raised will be paid without deductions to struggling employees to make up some of of the shortfall.
Our teams have also voted to donate 15% of all monies raised to Women's Aid, in recognition of the particularly important work they are doing to protect vulnerable people at this time of confinement.
Not only that, but our wonderful partners from across the drinks industry have come together to support this initiative with a weekly prize such that anyone who donates to the Hardship Fund will have the chance to win a bottle of fine wine or spirits delivered to their door.
This week's prize is a bottle of Glenfiddich 21 year old (which retails at over £130) courtesy of our longtime partners at W Grant.
How the Weekly Prize Draw Works
Each week, we will run a prize draw. For every £5 you donate, you get a matching entry into that week’s draw. So, if you donate £5 you get one entry, £50 you get ten entries etc. In short, the more generous you are, the more likely you are to win!
