Howdy friends! My name is Mitchell Carter from Bakersville, North Carolina, and I will be hosting a GoFundMe for our Appalachian neighbors who have been affected by the flooding in West Virginia. As some of you may know the McDowell county area of Southern West Virginia holds a dear place in my heart as my family and I served there as missionaries for many years throughout my childhood.

I have been in direct contact with Calvary Baptist church in War West Virginia, which is a hub for missionaries and volunteers responding to the wake of the flood in McDowell county. As missionaries, my family and I once worked directly through Calvary Baptist.

The flooding was very similar to the likes of Helene here in Western North Carolina. Some folks are still stranded, houses and roads are damaged, some folks are without their homes, and it’s a cold winter up there.

My goal is simply to gather a good chunk of change to be sent to Calvary Baptist Church, which will be put to use towards meeting the many needs of those affected by the flood. The funds will go towards the repair of the church, food, heat, shelter, and the many other needs that will be met through Calvary Baptist and the wonderful missionaries responding to the area in the wake of the flood.
