Hi, my name is Sophia, and I’m 46 years old. In 2017, I received the difficult news that I had been diagnosed with stage 3 chronic kidney disease, which has unfortunately progressed to stage 4. This condition is genetic, something I inherited, and it’s been a challenging journey for me to come to terms with. However, I’m actively working on accepting it as a part of my life.
Living with chronic kidney disease impacts my daily life in many ways. I deal with gout due to uric acid build-up, and I often experience fatigue and shortness of breath. I am currently in need of a transplant, and I’m grateful to have been approved and placed on the waiting list.
At times, the financial burden can feel overwhelming, especially when flare-ups prevent me from working. I have exhausted all of my paid time off, sick leave, and annual leave due to two unsuccessful surgeries aimed at creating a fistula in my arm for potential dialysis.
I am reaching out for support, hoping to raise funds to assist with my medical treatment, including medications, doctor visits, testing, and transplant costs. Any contributions, whether through donations or by sharing my story, would mean the world to me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness and support on this journey.
