<div>The destruction from hurricane Helene in Boone, North Carolina is worse than I could ever imagine, and unlike any I have ever seen before. Most people in the mountains do not think of a flood or hurricanes reaching them. We have a cabin on the outskirts of Boone and while we think it is safe, my wonderful cleaner who helps us with our Airbnb lost everything in the blink of an eye.   Sonia is the type of person who does what she says, and follows through on everything. She’s always friendly and always ready to serve with a generous heart. My heart breaks for her, knowing that not only did they lose their home, their belongings, their car, but likely their source of income because they don’t have a way to get around and many of the homes that they clean are probably out of commission or simply gone.  I’d like to try to raise money for her to at least get a new car as I am unsure that they have insurance or that it covers flooding. Every little bit helps.
