On Tuesday, February 11 my 6 year old baby Snickers was brought in to the emergency vet because he swallowed sewing thread causing a linear bowel obstruction. Because of how strong sewing thread is it also tore up his bowels leading to needing 8 inches of bowel to be resected. 24 hrs following that surgery, Snickers became septic from his bowels leaking into his abdomen and had to undergo another surgery he had only a 20% chance of surviving where he had 4 more inches of bowel resected. A few days after the 2nd surgery we found Snickers was becoming anemic with only 14% red blood cell count because he was unable to replenish his RBC due to how severe his trauma was and a transfusion was recommended. On Sunday, Snickers' brother Heath became a blood donor for Snickers' blood transfusion. Since the transfusion, Snickers has again shown signs of improvement- he is a fighter! Due to his almost week of stay in the emergency hospital as an ICU patient and his extensive procedures, the bills have been in the thousands. I am reaching the point where I am running out of money to spend on Snickers' journey of healing. He is showing SO many signs of improvement through this great injury and is showing he wants to make it home. Unfortunately his healing is a waiting game and it seems uncertain on when my resilient boy will be able to come home so the bills keep stacking up. I humbly ask for any kind of help anyone is able to give to keep up Snickers' progress and bring him home!
Thank you ❤️
