<div>The San Luis Obispo Scoters are a National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) high school and junior high composite team made up of student-athletes in grades 6-12 from schools in San Luis Obispo County.

<div>Our goal is to provide a fun, safe, and high-quality mountain bike experience for all athletes.
</div>

<div>Founded in 2018, last year's team had 43 student-athletes and 35 dedicated volunteer coaches.
</div>

</div>
<div>As we gear up for the eighth season of Scoters, we are raising support for up to 50 co-ed students and training 10 new leadership level coaches.
</div>

</div>
<div>As a club team within NICA (<a href="https://www.nationalmtb.org" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">www.nationalmtb.org</a>) and NICA Northern California (<a href="https://www.norcalmtb.org" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">www.norcalmtb.org</a>), SLO Scoters supports the following NICA mission:

<div><strong>SEASON GOALS</strong>
</div>
<div>I – Bring adventure and fun into our season – Adventure that results in youth development, mountain bike skills education and outdoor education. Fun that results in building friendships for life and creating experiences that keep our student-athletes wanting to come back every year.

</div>
<div>II – Coach Training &amp; Safety First – Increase the number of Level 2 or higher coaches to greater than 25 focusing on growing the number of female coaches first.
</div>

</div>
<div>III – Trail Maintenance Program – Working with Central Coast Concerned Mountain Bikers (3CMB) we will create and maintain a sustainable trail maintenance program that a) educates each student-athlete on the basics of trail-maintenance b) host at least 1 trail-work day at the Eucs or Shooters trails c) Identifies and trains 2 coaches to become certified 3CMB Trail Maintenance Crew Leaders.

<div>IV – Expand the Program – Build infrastructure and Team Leadership so we can get more kids on bikes in North and South County.

<div>V – Recruit more female riders – Design and implement a Scoters GRiT (Girls Riding Together) program in alignment with the NorCal NICA GRiT guidelines and increase female riders to over 20%
</div>

<div>VI– Underprivileged Youth – work to break down the barriers to entry into mountain biking (cost of equipment &amp; transportation to trailheads).
