Support Sierra's Recovery

Hi, Im Logan, and I am asking for support for my girlfriend Sierra.

The Friday before Mother's day weekend, after months of doctor's appointments and not feeling well, Sierra was diagnosed with Papillary Thyroid Cancer, and Metestatic Carcinoma in lymph nodes in her neck.

On July 5th she underwent a total thyroidectomy and centeal neck dissection to remove the cancer. Unfortunately, after follow up tests there is still a cancerous lymph node, that will require additional surgery.

On September 20th, Sierra was also diagnosed with a couple of other conditions, Raynauds Syndrome and Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.

Raynauds sydrome causes poor blood flow to hands and feet. This causes pain and function decrease in both hands and feet, making every day tasks difficult. There is no cure and treatment is limited.

Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome is a comnective tissue disorder. It's a genetic disorder the effects the bodies ability to properly generate good collagen. As a result joints in the body become very flexible and instable. Unfortunately, this often times leads to early onset arthritis, as well as muscle fatigue and pain around major joints. There is also no cure for this, as well a very limited treatment.

Sierra is in for a long road ahead finding out ways to alleviate her symptoms and improve quality of life. She will have blood work every 6 weeks for her tyhroid until they can get her TSH levels stabilized with replacement hormone therapy. There will also be physical therapy, and pain management appointments to help with the other diagnoses.

Unfortunately, a lot of treatment and medication for these syndromes are not covered by insurance and have and will cause Sierra to have to change her profession, as well as miss work more often than normal. A lot of this time off is unpaid, as vacation time has been exhausted at this point.

Sierra has been strong through all her appointments and treatments, keeping her positive attitude and beautiful smile with support from friends and family.

She's not one to ask for help, and is always willing to put others before herself, so I am asking for her. The financial burden is something I can see she is struggling with, but like I said she's strong and stubborn, and thinks this is something she needs to do alone, so Im hoping to show her, it isn't, and she's not.
