<div>My wife Sheri is truly an angel on earth. Her love for others is undeniable—she’s always there to help and offer a hug, even when she’s facing her own discomfort. Family values and big meals have always been at the heart of our home, and Sheri is the pillar who holds us all together.

<div>Our family has faced one challenge after another. Since Covid, our savings have been stretched thin. I’m a truck driver, and when the pandemic hit, work slowed down and our income dropped. Then I was diagnosed with colon cancer and had surgery, which led to complications and months in and out of the hospital. During that time, we relied on Sheri’s SSDI and the kindness of family and friends just to get by. As we were starting to find our footing again, our daughter—a single mother of three—was diagnosed with cancer. Sheri and I helped to support her and our grandchildren, which took another toll on our finances, but we were so grateful when she went into remission.

<div>Just as we thought we might catch a break, Sheri received her diagnosis: stage 4 lung cancer. She is now undergoing chemo and radiation, and we’ve just learned that her Medicaid coverage will end at the end of the month. The bills are piling up, and the need for me to be by her side is growing every day. Through it all, Sheri’s greatest wish has been to spend time with our family—especially our grandkids—making memories, maybe even taking that dream vacation to the beach she’s always hoped for.
