Support Shelly's Family Through Medical Crisis

Hi, I’m Anna Mayhood and have been Shelly’s friend since six grade. At this time I’m requesting support from our friends and community to help Shelly and her family through a very hard time.

Last year Shelly’s husband was diagnosed with cancer. Since then he has had chemo, radiation, and surgeries to treat the cancer. In April/May of this year Steve had severe pain which led to him having to have a surgery to address radiation damage to his

Intestine. At this time Steve is home, can not work, and is attempting to navigate his new medical conditions.

On Friday May 17, 2024 Damya, Shelly’s 16 year old daughter, was taken to Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh for a headache and vomiting. After additional testing the family was informed that Damya has a been diagnosed with an anaplastic pleomorphic xanthoastrocytoma (grade III). This is an aggressive brain cancer. Within the last few weeks Damya has had several surgeries to address pressure in her head which has included internal and external shunts. Damya also had a tumor reduction surgery for comfort measures. Damya is in surgery today, 6/18/24, to put two new internal shunts in. The family is not sure of the short term outcome but the team of doctors are doing everything they can to address pain, pressure, and other medical issues that have occurred due to the cancer and complications. Shelly has not left her side since the initial ER visit and cannot work. At this time, Damya needs complete care and can no longer tell her mother what she needs or complete any care for herself, so it is imperative Shelly and loved ones be with her.

Sadly, early this morning (6/18/24), Shelly and Steve got a call that their oldest son, Aligha, was in a horrible car accent. They were told that at this time he has broke his neck in two places and has no movement in his arms. Aligha is currently in surgery. I have no other updates than that. I will try to update this after his surgery.

Shelly, Steve, and the kids are absolutely wonderful and need all of our help to get through this time in their life. If you can please donate to cover monthly expenses as well as possibly medical expenses. Please also pray for Steve, Damya, and Aligha for healing. Also pray for the entire family for strength.

Shelly is very overwhelmed and may not respond to text or phone calls. She is trying her best to be strong for her babies and her husband. We are all heartbroken and will try to give updates as we get them.
