Shane’s Recovery

Donation protected
On June 3rd, my husband Shane had a seizure. The next day they discovered the seizure was caused by a Brain AVM ( Arteriovenous Malformation).

This condition meant that Shane would not be able to work and help support our family.  The doctors assessed his condition and they were told there was a chance that he would have a stroke if nothing was done to fix the issue.

A month after my husband was diagnosed with this illness, I lost my job. They gave me no reason.  Now, both Shane and I are not working. Our son Michael (12) has been so brave and so calm through all of this.

Meanwhile, Shane has undergone a procedure to have the AVM embolized (glued) on Aug 28th and removed on Aug 29. The surgery (meant to last 8 hours) lasted 17 hours.

After being moved to ICU, doctors were concerned Shane wasn't responding as expected. A CT scan revealed that after the surgery he had a stroke. As of today, Shane is finally able to walk and is responding well but still has at least 6 months of recovery time ahead of him.

It has now been almost 6 months since this nightmare began, and we have been struggling to make ends meet.

Although I have been applying for work and taking courses to further my career, I have had no luck finding a job to help support her family. I have now been accepted as a hospital volunteer to keep my sanity through all of this and help keep my skills fresh while I look for work.

We have no idea at this point when or if Shane will go back to work. Being that his last job was as a Special Needs Bus driver, it is unknown what his future will hold. At this point the Doctors still haven't been able to assess the full effect of the stroke and he will remain in hospital for some time.

I started this campaign in hopes of raising some money to help us with our regular bills and help cover the unexpected expenses we are facing while Shane is recovering.

Thank you for your time and support and here’s to the best recovery possible for Shane after this difficult ordeal.
