<div>He had been sick since the beginning of March, went to urgent care and they said he had pneumonia. After two rounds of antibiotics, he still wasn’t getting any better. He used up a lot of his sick time because he was trying to rest and get better. Over a month ago, in the middle of the night, he woke up and was having difficulty breathing and broke out in a bad sweat. I called 911 and the ambulance came and took him to our local hospital. They did all sorts of tests and after a CT scan, they found he had Deep Vein Thrombosis as well as a Pulmonary Embolism (widespread blood clots in both lungs). They told us at the hospital we were at that they didn’t have the necessary specialists and equipment to handle what he had and said he would have to be taken to a bigger hospital. Then they said that he more than likely would not survive the 45 minute ambulance ride to the other hospital, even with oxygen, so they had to life flight him!! He was in ICU and on a hi-flow oxygen machine. Many tests, CT scans, ultrasounds and medications were given. The pneumonia in his right lung had pushed all of the blood clots to his left side, putting strain on his heart. They decided to do a thrombectomy procedure to suck out all of the blood clots. He is almost out of the woods, but we are still facing a lot more doctor’s appointments, testing, and prescriptions, as they still don’t know what caused the blood clots in the first place! Next up, he has an appointment with an Oncologist.

<div>Shane is genuinely the most selfless, kind, caring person I’ve ever known in my entire life!! He would give you the shirt off his back! He never asks people for anything, and I just want to be able to take some of this burden off of his shoulders!! We have been together for 23 years next month and we came so close to losing him!

<div>He missed work for several weeks, and I took an unpaid LOA so I could be beside him while he is in the hospital. And to top it off, our daughter had called out when he was taken to the hospital and her workplace suspended her for two weeks. This is where we are in quite a bind. Now that it has been almost six weeks, almost every bill from the last month is late or has been missed entirely. We need some help getting caught up on bills, as this definitely blindsided us. We have nothing in savings and we are barely scraping by and it is getting scary. Shane is my best friend, a wonderful father and an all around great person. Please donate if you can so we can stay afloat!! The medical bills are starting to roll in already as well, but anything donated would help us be able to pay our regular bills and be able to eat! I set this goal amount to cover just some of our monthly expenses, until we fully get back to work and start earning our regular paychecks again!! Every bit helps, $5, $10…no donation is too small!
