This is Sean’s story:

Sean Chehardy is only 60 years old. He is known as dad to his 5 beloved children. However, his favorite title has always been PawPaw Sean. A name bestowed upon him by his 14 grandchildren.

On March 7, 2025, my dad was taking his motorcycle on a test drive to make sure it was road ready. Tragically, he will never ride a motorcycle again. A vehicle failed to stop/yield for the right of way and struck the left side of his bike. He was thrown from the bike and his left leg was completely crushed by the jeep. Within the first 48-72 hours, he underwent 3 surgeries to assess the condition of his leg. They had to internally examine the bones, tissue, and muscles. They attempted to clean up, reattach, & reset bones to determine if skin graphing and saving the leg was an option. It eventually resulted in an “attempted“ (and I don’t use that lightly) below the knee amputation. Unfortunately, the nerves, tendons, muscles and ligaments were unable to be repaired and pieced together properly and he ended up with a nasty, flesh eating infection which led to 3 additional “procedures “ to clean and wash out the wound and prep for the SECOND amputation going just above the knee. 32 days later, he is still in the hospital awaiting a bed for an intensive rehabilitation facility. As to be expected, this has caused a serious financial burden as he can not work for the foreseeable future. His finance is also unable to work due to the 2 hour commutes to the hospital and she will also be his full time caregiver once he is released . Yet, the rent and bills have not stopped and continue to pile up. Not to mention home modifications and medical supplies.
If you can find in your heart to help ease some of their financial burden as they are both struggling so much mentally and facing homelessness once he is able to be released. In a time like this, it is the last thing they need to worry about. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers and thank you for taking the time to read about this horrible accident that has forever changed the life of our beloved father and PawPaw Sean. Any donation would be greatly appreciated!
