<div>My father, <strong>Larry “Scott” Normandin</strong>, is the epitome of positivity and optimism. He makes friends everywhere he goes and is loved by so many. Scott is active, loves biking and softball, and is known for his  humorous and kind spirit.

<div>Recently, our lives were turned upside down when he was diagnosed with <strong>glioblastoma, a rare and aggressive terminal cancer in the brain</strong>. He underwent emergency brain surgery to remove his tumor (the size of a tangerine) and is now healing and about to start chemotherapy and radiation to address the remaining cancer. Due to the nature of this disease, the possibility of the tumor regrowing is extremely high, so treatment will be continuous for the rest of his life.

<div>Through all of this, my father remains a beacon of hope and positivity. He has devoted 31 years at The Courtyards at Punahou, and over the years has forged so many lasting relationships being one of the joys in his life. He is proof that even in the toughest of times, you can remain positive and hopeful.

<div>While we are remaining very hopeful and he is remaining his positive and strong self, the medical bills are already mounting, and the costs of continued care are overwhelming for our family.
</div>

<div>We are the sole family he has on island and we have no support in this process. This has posed a huge burden for me and my sister, who are both in our mid-20s, and are also still grappling with the emotionally shattering impact of our father’s new diagnoses.

<div>While Scott’s focus needs to be on rest and healing, the reality is that cancer care is incredibly expensive. For the treatment he urgently needs, and between hospital stays, medications, appointments, time off work and the day‑to-day costs of living, we are asking for support from our community to help ease this burden on our family. Your support will help cover medical bills and provide stability for Scott and his loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.
