<div>Scott Whiting went in for a routine outpatient surgery on June 6th and came out of the surgery with severe cognitive issues and physical disability. He has not recovered. Doctors have said it looks like the cognitive impairment is permanent. He is very confused and is not going to be able to live alone anymore.

<div>Scott is currently in a rehabilitation facility in Peoria, but he will need to leave by June 28. Scott has already fallen several times and is unable to walk or stand on his own. He is confined to a wheelchair to get around.
</div>

<div>Scott was very active in the Phoenix area. He enjoyed getting together with local Yelp groups as well as going on many motorcycle rides to meet friends. He owned Scott's Sharpening Service for over 30 years in Glendale, and has built long-lasting relationships with so many people in the community.

<div>We have organized this fundraiser to help his son Daniel raise the costs of obtaining guardianship over Scott and for initial placement of Scott into an appropriate facility where he can get the nursing care he needs. Shannon, Scott's sister, will be organizing and collecting these funds for Daniel to use.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The legal fees to obtain guardianship will be upwards of $4,500 (court costs and attorney fees). Getting Scott into an appropriate facility will cost about $4,000 per month for the first month or two until Medicare kicks in.
</div>

</div>
<div>Daniel obtaining guardianship will take 6-8 weeks and involve the expense of trips back and forth between San Diego and Phoenix to conduct business on top of the legal fees.
</div>

<div>With Scott’s decline and the need for guardianship being so sudden, our family could use your help to make conducting business on Scott's behalf and placing Scott in an appropriate facility as smooth and obtainable as possible.
