Since launching the Schooner Heron in 2003, Captains Twig and Bonnie and their girls have been sharing their sailing experiences with passengers on day-sails from Rockport Harbor, Maine, as well as in the Caribbean. Many of these passengers have become part of the "Heron family" and sail year after year. Schooner Heron has become an icon in Rockport Harbor; a welcomed sign that summer has arrived when Heron is at the dock. <img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/49195888_1593976540208149_r.jpeg" alt="49195888_1593976540208149_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /> 2020 will be the first year that Schooner Heron is not in Rockport for the start of summer. Due to unprecedented circumstances caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, Captain Twig and Heron are still stuck in the Grenadines. The airport and marine ports in St Vincent and the Grenadines closed in March and have yet to reopen. This makes it impossible for Bonnie and crew to get there to help with the 2000nm sail back to Maine for the summer day-sail season. Not only are they unable to sail with their "Heron family" (which is their passion) but  are also without business income. Schooner Heron still has fixed monthly operating expenses that need to be paid, and now has the added expense of securing a hurricane mooring to keep the boat safe in the Grenadines. Twig and Bonnie have met challenges throughout the building of Schooner Heron, sailing offshore passages to the Caribbean with their family and creating a successful day-sail business. They always would find a way to make it work. But this latest challenge due to the Covid-19 worldwide pandemic has factors that are totally out of their control. They are hoping the situation will change, but in the meantime, bills need to be paid somehow.  That is why they are asking for your support to see the Schooner Heron through this storm and keep the business afloat to sail in brighter days in the future.
