<div>Before I share why I’m fundraising, I’d love for you to know a bit about me beyond my medical journey.

<div>I’m married to the love of my life, and we share our home with two adorable pugs, Petunia and Primrose. I’m also passionate about coffee, community, and disability rights and inclusion. I hope to one day open an inclusive coffee shop that provides opportunities for folks with disabilities and chronic illnesses like myself to thrive in the coffee industry.

<div>I’m also incredibly crafty and love creating all kinds of art when I have the energy. Expressing myself creatively brings me joy and helps me stay grounded during tough times.

<div>Why I’m Fundraising

<div>I’ve been living with a genetic connective tissue disorder called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) since I was born, though I only became symptomatic in my middle school years. EDS is a complex and incurable condition that affects nearly every system in my body, leading to a long list of comorbidities.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>Managing EDS means I rely on a range of treatments including infusions through my chest port, joint braces, medications, surgeries, and the use of mobility aids (primarily my power wheelchair). Even with insurance, the costs pile up quickly.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>This year has been particularly difficult with the rise of a new health concern. I discovered multiple lumps in my right breast that are concerning. Due to the results of my ultrasounds, mammograms, and family history, I am having a procedure to remove them on October 2nd. Initial biopsy results on the lumps were inconclusive so additional pathology after the surgery will help determine whether cancer is present and if other treatments are needed.

<div>Unfortunately, our insurance isn’t covering as much of the surgery and associated care as we had hoped. With mounting medical bills and my inability to work my part-time job due to worsening symptoms, we’re facing a tough financial road ahead.
