Support Veteran Sarah Bright's Recovery Journey
Donation protected
Hey everyone! Last week on the 5th of June my girlfriend, Sarah Bright, fell down a small flight of concrete steps leading to our apartment door and she ended up displacing a bottom piece of her fibula. As a result she will be unable to work for several weeks. Today, she underwent corrective surgery and she will be needing physical therapy as well to help get the foot, ankle, and leg back into "working order". She will be unable to work for several weeks as a result which places a very hard financial burden on her and myself since she was the one paying the bills.
I have no idea how much her insurance will cover for her medical expenses just yet, but I am expecting a bill for this sometime soon which will also set us back financially.
A bit of information about Sarah:
She is an avid cook and loves making food for her friends and coworkers and anyone else that will have her meals. She loves art and music, she loves Dungeons & Dragons and Vampire, the Masquerade, and is even a dungeon master/story teller for a few games among friends. She is a compassionate and loving person and has one of the biggest hearts you will find.
Sarah is also transgendered, male to female, and is very active in the online community to help support other trans people. By her friends and associates she is seen as a strong shoulder to stand upon, offering any advice and love and compassion she can to those struggling with their own transitions.
She is also a veteran! In the Army, they ran her legs very hard and did surgery back then on her knee, when they did this they shaved her knee back almost completely without replacing it or adding any supportive screws despite telling her they did both (we only found out recently about this issue). Doctors have noted that her legs are very bad as a result and that she was lucky she didn't hurt her legs worse in her fall.
Any help and support would be greatly appreciated! She may have taken a hard fall and broken her fibula, but if the kind folks here are able to help, she won't have to take a financial fall too. ♡
Thank you so much for reading. For anyone else going through trying times, I wish you all the best of luck!
