My name is Ryan, and I’m 41 years old, soon to be married to Paige, the love of my life for nearly nine years. Together, we have four amazing kids—two biological and two stepchildren—who are our whole world. Our relationship has faced its share of challenges, but nothing could have prepared us for what we’re going through now. This past June, I was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. The news devastated me and my family. After 30 days in the hospital, I came home 40 pounds lighter, physically and emotionally drained, to recover before starting a new round of treatment.

 Now, months later, my cancer has been identified as a rare form that shows both strains of leukemia. I was given a 26% chance of survival and sent home again, this time with more medications and a new perspective on life as I await further testing. I’m currently undergoing three types of chemotherapy—two in pill form and one through IV at the hospital. My care has moved to Hershey hospital, and I’m waiting for a bone marrow donor. Financially, things have become incredibly tough. I lost my job due to too much hospital time, and my work history meant I only qualified for a small amount of SSDI. Paige works tirelessly to keep us afloat, but it’s just not enough.

 I’m reaching out for help—not just for myself, but for my family. I want to give my kids a Christmas I can’t afford right now and give Paige peace of mind that we won’t fail our children in the midst of all this. I want her to know how deeply she is loved.
