Support Ryan Duck ❤️‍

The Newcastle community and beyond have even shaken to the core to hear the news of local legend, champion body-boarder and all round nicest bloke you’ll ever meet, Ryan Duck, who was attacked and stabbed multiple times by a stranger whilst fishing with colleagues in Pacific Palms in the early hours of Monday morning.

Ryan’s injuries were so severe he was airlifted to the John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition where he was then rushed into two major surgeries which saved his life. Ryan’s devoted partner Sophie, family and friends have been traumatised by this malicious and callus attack which nearly stole their beloved ‘Ducky’, soon father to be.

Ryan has come out the other end of this terribly horrific event but his recovery is only just beginning and he has a huge road ahead of him to get back to 100%. Ryan is going to need ongoing care, rehabilitation, physiotherapy and to be off work for several months until he can be back on his feet and regain mobility and strength.

Ryan, Sophie and his family would like to say a huge thank you to the amazing team at the Westpac helicopter service and the John Hunter Hospital who saved his life. As well as to the community for the over-whelming amount of love, well-wishes and support for Ryan as he navigates the unknown road ahead and continues to process the situation at hand.

Berry Brothers would like to do what we can to support Ryan and Sophie as they only just begin Ryan’s journey to recovery. With a mortgage over their heads, a baby on the way and on-going care for Ryan, whatever we can spare to support him and his family will go a long way to help one of Newcastle’s most beloved blokes during this time.
