December 3rd around 9am I checked Rugers tracker to see where he was because he didn't come back home with the other dogs. It showed he was in the safe zone I had set on the tracker app but, It showed he was asleep in the woods. I immediately knew something was wrong so I followed the tracker and found him in a mud pit covered head to toe with mud, blood and unable to move. We rushed him to Oak Ridge Veterinary Hospital. Upon arrival he was rushed back and shortly after we were informed by the Vet, he had been mauled by a bigger dog and his body was in shock. He had over 50 puncture wounds/lacerations all over his body, face, neck, ears, and legs. From what we gathered from the information on the tracker app, Ruger laid in the mud pit for over an hour in 28 degree weather. His body temperature and blood pressure was unreadable upon arrival to the Vet. They decided immediately that they
needed to keep him there to try and stabilize him. Their main concern was stabilizing him and getting him thru the shock he was in. Things were looking up and positive for a few hours but unfortunately around 5pm this afternoon they called to tell me he had severe damage to his throat and wasn't positive about him being able to make it thru the night. 5 minutes later they called back and said they were doing CPR and wanted to know what I wanted done. I decided he had fought hard and long enough and I made the call to let him go. He passed away at only 8 months old. But in those 8 months he brought me and my family tremendous joy and love. He will forever live in our hearts.
The Vet and cremation bill is $870 all together. The Vet is in the process of switching their finance things around and are unable to do a payment plan at the moment.
