Help Us Give Sweet Rose the Safe Haven She Deserves
On May 6, 2025, Rose was found wandering alone through a senior community in Riverside. This sweet senior German Shepherd girl was utterly exhausted, painfully thin, and covered in ticks. Her once-beautiful fur was so matted and filthy that it was hard to tell what color she even was. She looked like she had simply given up.
A kind-hearted maintenance worker spotted her and called out gently. Without hesitation, Rose walked straight to him…tail low, eyes weary, as if she knew that, for the first time in a long time, someone cared.
Sadly, the community manager couldn’t allow her to stay on the property and called animal control. Rose was just hours away from being taken to Riverside County Animal Shelter…one of the highest-kill shelters in California. The Animal Control officer stated matter of fact, that Rose would be more than likely euthanized on intake.
I happened to be nearby and rushed over the moment I heard. The second I saw her, I knew I couldn’t let her be taken to that shelter. Despite everything she had been through, Rose was gentle, affectionate, and so full of love. She leaned into my arms like she had been waiting for someone…anyone…to save her.
I begged the manager to give me until the end of the day to find a solution. Thankfully, she agreed.
I loaded Rose into my car and rushed her to Petco to scan for a microchip. We found one…but heartbreakingly, it had never been registered. She had no way to find her family, if they were even out there looking. We searched all the lost and found sites and posted her everywhere but no luck.
I brought her home, gave her a warm meal, and spent hours carefully removing the ticks embedded in her skin. I lost count after 50. She never once snapped or growled. She just looked at me with those soft, grateful eyes, finally beginning to relax.
Rose is a senior dog, and she is one of the sweetest souls you’ll ever meet. She adores everyone…especially children…and has a calm, loving nature that touches everyone who meets her.
Now she needs your help.
Pumpkin Pawz Rescue has agreed to take Rose in, but we urgently need help covering the cost of her boarding . I visit Rose often at the boarding facility and it brings me great joy seeing her out of her kennel running free and happy! This gentle girl has suffered enough. She deserves a soft bed, a safe place to rest, and the love she’s been missing for so long.
If you would like to foster or adopt her instead of donating, please contact Jennifer with Pumpkin Pawz Rescue at +1 (714) [phone redacted].. text is best.
Please consider donating to support Rose’s boarding and medical care. Every dollar makes a difference…and every share helps us get one step closer to giving her the future she so deeply deserves.
Help us show Rose that love didn’t forget her. Thank you!
